First snow of the year!!

Oh, it has been quite a while since I have written my last blog. My close friends know the reason for that or they can easily figure it out ;-). Nevertheless, with the first snow of the season, I am up again with my views and thoughts to share. Anyways what else can one do in a temperature of 2 degree and a wind chill of almost -10 degree centigrade ;-).
Pheww , the only thing in my mind is that here comes the loooong and dark winter season. I will definitely miss my shorts and t-shirts :-(.

Is this all neccessary?

I was just wathicng one of the CNN IBNs video about the road blocks in Delhi and other NCR region over the Amarnath land issue. In the midst of the chakka jam, 70 Year old Gendaram died in the ambulance simply because the ambulance was caught in the jam. We should ask his family about the worthiness of this chakka-jaam.

Democracy gives the right to everybody to express his views / opinions, not neccessarily at the cost of other's lives. We should not forget that authority comes with the responsibility. There should be strict laws that restrict any political party/ organization/union to organize any chakka jams on National Highways, during office hours and the safe passage to the emergency vehicles should be guaranteed by the authorities.

I think now its time for us to introspect, is there any issue bigger than saving a person's life?

Regionalism: A new aspect of cheap politics

"Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve". I remember somewhere I have read these lines of George Bernard Shaw's comment. In today’s era, these lines seem to be 100 % true. With the spread of hate, violence, non- tolerance in the name of Marathi Manoos, started yet another chapter in the cheap politics of my nation. I have some questions to all those leaders who are self-proclaiming savior of Marathi manoos and the Marathi culture:
"You have all your kids educated at prestigious schools like Bombay-Scottish in English medium, why did you not admit them in Marathi-medium schools”?
They want all the non-marathis to get out of the Maharashtra; will they be calling all the marathis from all over the India back to Maharashtra? What will they do when all the non-marathis will leave Maharashtra? Do they have any plan, any vision when they will be left with almost no taxi drivers, rickshaw pullers or any other labourers?
However, it is always easy for us to point our fingers to the leaders and skip our duty as a citizen of this republic. Are we that blind? Can we not do introspection? We are no better than a herd of sheep who blindly follows the one who is in front, never argue, never reason, never question, Just follow.

Nano....where will you drive in India ??

With the arrival of long time awaiting Tata nano car, I would like to ask Mr. Ratan Tata-"Where will the people drive these cars”? Everytime I go to India, I see new flyovers, bridges, toll collecting stations. It all seems like a concrete jungle where it is becoming difficult to breathe. No wonder we are becoming a gigantic contributor to the CO2 emission club. Had Mr. Tata invested in researching a cleaner, , more efficient public transport bus, it would have been much more beneficial for the nature and for the people too.

Fight for reservation in Rajasthan

Fight for reservation is an ongoing hot topic in Rajsthan's politics these days. Being a rajasthani, I cannot help myself to pen down a couple of thoughts I have on this topic. When the constitution of India was being drafted, certain historicaly opressed and under-represented groups were identified by the constitution makers. The whole idea of the reservation was to give these people a chance to climb the ladders with somewhat help and be on a comman platform as others. With time, this idea had taken toll in the power corridors of India to play the usual politics.
In current scenario it is completely transformed into something which only comes out of the box just before elections to pursuade people. What could be the worse than common people themselves cannot understand the dirty politics of our leaders which show the mirage everytime elections are on their way ?

Shameful new year eve !!

Once again, the news of women molestation on the new year's eve shocked the country. It happened all across the landscape of India, from kochi to mumbai to patna. The most shocking news to me was in mumbai, a crowd of 60 hoodlums molested 2 young women. This was the time when we were supposed to make the resolution in order to be a more just, fair and strong society. On the contrary, few thugs tried to harass 2 helpless young women. To my surprise, on the same day some so called "moral police" guys smashed a video parlour in Mumbai accusing them of running the prostitution business. I have a very simple question- Where the hell this moral police disappears when the shameful incidents like the molestation of 2 women by 60 men happens? When this "moral police" can smash an archies card shop for selling the valentine day card, why don't they come up for the help of young women like those who have been harassed? What an extreme of hypocracy !!!!!
Incidents like this not only shows the drastic degradation in our moral values, they also pin points that as a society, where are we heading. If few guys were molesting these women, what were other people doing? Why didn't they come for their help? I don't buy the argument that Police didn't do anything. Police is forced to enforce the law, but common people plays a vital role in enforcing the law. We need to rethink on this and try to act on our intuition so as to stop the incidents like this.

Support Burmese people!!!!!

It's all over the news..Burma is burning.
The military junta had shown a very ruthless and violent response against the protesters, which by large, consists of peaceful, non violent monks. Even after the harsh response by the junta, which has taken lives of around 190 monks (source: www.bpf.org) the protesters are still on their way.
This is the high time for Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), of which Burma is also one of the member nation to take some actions in order to stop this.

Thank god it's Friday !!!

Once again, one more week came to an endless end. I know I am sounding a bit crazy but I will explain it later in this post. Now, I almost forgot when was the last time I kept a record of how many days in a week I have done some creative work. Maybe Anas bhai (my ex-flat mate) would be the right person to throw some light on it [:D] that how many weeks we'have counted just standing near kitchen platform. "Have you realized today week 3rd is ending?"; "Oh really sh** man time is flying like anything". After a couple of more weeks "Did you realize today week # 25 came to an end"; "Oh GODD time is flying like anything". And in the end time really flew like anything and we were still there...watching.

Remembering bhagat singh

Today is the 100th birthday of one of the super heroes of our freedom, Shaheed Bhagat singh. I was trying to find some thing to read in the newspapers but apparently I came to know that Indian newspapers have much more important issues than to remembe a freedom fighter. For example, times of India mentioned about the dilemma of karnataka's chief minister upon the issue of resigning whereas Indian express was more concerned about the welcome of Australian pace bowler Brett lee. Only Hindustan times covered a ceremony in ahmedabad.
I am astonished to see the level of Indian media now a days. They have everything to cover up starting from the wedding of bollywood stars to the inaugration of a new boutique by a politician, but they can't even spend a few lines on one of the martyrs of India.

With the grand victory of team India, the hugely entertaining tournament with a fitting climax came to an end. The atmosphere became frenzied when the traditional arch rivals fought against each other. The inexperienced and relatively new players were entrusted and have proved that they can be counted upon.

Bye bye aalborg

Hurray!!!! I have got an opportunity to work with a big name Motorola in a big city named Copenhagen (it happened to be ethe capital of Denmark). With this joy and happiness comes another part which is the fact that now I am leaving Aalborg.
Aalborg is the city where I have done my Masters and which is the first place I came to outside India. It is very natural to feel a bit nostalgic about this place. Sometimes we don't give much value to things which are on our disposal by default. When I was in Aalborg, I always used to think about living in a big city, some metro city etc etc. Now, after spending a week in Copenhagen I came to realize how difficult is to live in a city where you don't know anybody and vice-versa. In this week I missed all my comfort, friends, food etc etc. This is the same (almost) feeling which had occurred to me when I left India for the first time. But as Forrest gump has said "life is a box full of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get. I am also waiting for some more surprises from this box of chocolates.

Desire to write

I was reading an article by Edward said, who was a prominent writer and a Professor at Columbia University. While going through the article I have found something very stunning. Perhaps that was the answer to one of my questions which I have asked myself in a previous post. Said gave the reference of Joseph Conrad who said in Nostromo, a book written by him, that a desire lurks in every heart to write down once and for all a true account of what happened. This is the reason why I, sometimes think that I should write down each and every event which is happening to me or had happened to me.

Right now its 18:02 Hrs. After 5 hrs and 58 minutes, we will enter into a new year.
This year (2006) is also passed. Time is passing like anything, in fact, its flying. Every second, every minute, every day is passing and we are lossing time. To be very honest, I am not a kind of person who keep records of all these seconds, minutes but sometimes I think that it is true that I am loosing all this time. If you think, its an incredibly interesting topic. The moment which is just passed will not come again. Whatever is done, is done. We cannot reverse it. All what we can do is to utilize this time in such a manner which is beneficial to us and all of the people surrounding us.


Now it is 1st January 2007, 02:57 Am. The very first morning of the new year. and I am back from the new year party. We are in!!
It was raining and very cold outside but we went to the Nørresundby bridge and were mere spectator of the beautiful fireworks. All I can put is one blurred picture (Note: It was raining and my camera was not working fine in the rain).

Youtubing and Redditing

So, here I am .....again penning down something. It occured to me that now a days I am spending quite an amount of time in redditing (www.reddit.com) and youtubing (www.youtube.com). The reason for redditing is to get in touch with some of the most innovative and crazy ideas. When I surf this site, it made me think How innovative people are, with the help of art, science, technology etc etc, people uncover some of the most beautiful ideas they have in their mind. World is getting smaller and smaller and changing at a very fast rate. I don't know in the coming time, to keep yourself in pace how much efforts someone has to put whatever field he/she has chosen.

Enjoying summers

Summers are going on and everyday I make some plans to do something 'creative' in this summers. The day starts at 12:00 PM and ends at 12:00 Am, watta sleeep, I know as I wont be able to repeat this 'exercise' during the semester. It is not like that I am a sleep maniac or something like dat but just nothingto do much. Welcome to scandinavian work culture.
Sometimes I just wonder how relaxed people are and it seems that they dont have any sort of tension, be it of work or of study, although a survey done by BBC has proved that if u wanna be happy in ur life...............go to Denmark. SO here I am.
Now I think its enough useless talk so I should stop.

Confused me

Hi again. me back. I was searching some intersting topic so that I can 'blog' the gist of them , but is this the purpose of blogging? To be very true , I still dont understand completely the purpose of blogging. Why people do the blogging, is it just the feeling of sharing ideas or what??? If somebody has a convincing answer please let me know.
